All natural, all crunchy and all satisfying, nuts are good for you. Nuts are high in protein, fiber and mono-unsaturated fat, making them one of the top foods recommended by nutritionists. According to a recent review of studies in the Journal of Nutrition, people who eat at least one ounce of nuts five or more times per week have a 35 percent lower risk for coronary heart disease. 35 Percent! Of course it's important to keep in mind that a small amount is all you need for maximum benefits. Sometimes opening a big can or jar can be dangerous because the calories can add up quickly. To avoid piling on the calories, put the proper serving size (about 15-20 almonds or as much as would fit comfortably in your palm) in smaller containers so you are aware of the amount you are eating. Go nuts and enjoy better health. |
